Multi Grains Powder - Sathu Maavu and kanji

        This healthy grains powder can be given to babies at age of 8 month plus. When you introduce this to your baby for the first time, start with a some measure  (1 tsp). Follow it 3 days, if no allergic symptoms are seen, increase the measure gradually.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Samba Wheat  - 250 gram
  • Green gram      - 250 gram
  • Finger millet(ragi)-250gram
  • Bajra(kambu) - 250 gram
  • Jowar(cholam) - 250 gram
  • Fried gram       - 100 gram
  • Peanuts             - 100 gram
  • Sesame              - 100 gram
  • Soya beans - 100 gram
  • Urad dal      - 100 gram
  • Corn             - 100 gram
  • Almonds            -  50 gram
  • Cashew nuts     - 50 gram
  • White Channa - 10 gram
  • Brown Channa - 10 gram
  • Cardam - 1 spoon ( 3 or 5)
METHOD:
  • Wash and clean the ingredients and then dry it one day.
  • Dry roast all the above ingredients in medium flame.
  • Let it rest for few minutes.
  • Grind it all together to a fine powder. You can use your home mixer grinder or take it to grinding mill. The grinding mill is better than home grinder. In any case it is important to make sure that the grinder is not used to grind spices.
  • Store this healthy multi grains powder in a clean and dry airtight container in a cool and dry place. Because moisture can spoil the grains powder.


HOW TO PREPARE PORRIDGE:
  • Take a bowl add 2 table spoon of grains powder, add enough water, mix well without any lumps.
  • Then take cleaned vessel, add 1/2 cup of water and 1 table spoon of powdered jaggery, heat it once the jaggery melt, filter it by using strainer.
  • Add the prepared jaggery syrup with grains mix, cook it in medium flame and stir well intermittently.
  • Then it become thick consistency(semi solid), switch off the flame.
  • You can serve the healthy porridge while it is lukewarm.
